How to use it

  1. Enter the product's Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and Selling Price.
  2. Add optional payment gateway fees (%) and shipping/advertising costs ($).
  3. Or switch to Find Selling Price by Target Margin to compute the required retail price for a desired profit level.
  4. Copy the itemized unit economics summary or print the report.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Why is my Gross Margin different from my Net Profit Margin?

Gross Margin only subtracts the direct cost of goods (COGS) from revenue. Net Profit Margin subtracts all operating fees, merchant processing charges, shipping, and advertising costs.

Can a profit margin be higher than 100%?

No. Gross Profit Margin cannot exceed 100% because profit cannot be greater than total revenue. However, Markup % can easily exceed 100% when selling price is more than double the cost.
